Comment: "Dear Commission,
I wrote to oppose the Avista Utilities application in AVU-E-25-12 for a rate increase.This
rate increase comes on the heels of prior increases from Avista causing financial hardships
for many households. At this point there asks blend together and reflect a culture of simply
shifting costs onto consumers. Costs consumers cannot escape due to the monopoly
Avista has. Further, these this rate increase by Avista as stated by said company is due to
businesses utilizing the program more. How is that individual consumers responsibility to
pay? In a year Avista will come back with another increase and another and another,
because even if they only get a sliver of what they ask, its an increase, right? I understand
prices and costs increase but shifting those costs onto the backs of consumers who
cannot escape due to the monopoly the company occupies is immoral.
I strongly urge you to oppose this rate increase.
