BOISE (Feb. 27, 2026) —The Idaho Public Utilities Commission has granted Capitol Water Corporation a partial increase in the rates it charges to provide service to customers. The utility submitted an application to the Commission on Aug. 14, 2025, seeking a 6.004 percent increase to its fixed monthly charge and commodity charge. Capitol Water said the increase was needed to recover costs associated with significant capital improvement projects it completed since the utility's last rate case went into effect, accumulated depreciation and working capital associated with the rate case expenses. The Commission issued an order on Feb. 26,2026,approving an overall 4.4 percent increase to the fixed monthly charge and commodity charge. It determined the increase accurately reflected the amount Capitol Water needed to recover the costs of the capital improvement projects as well as cover other expenses. The new rates begin March 1,2026. Metered customers'monthly bills will increase based on the size of their meter and the amount of water they use.Non-metered customers'monthly bills will increase based on the size of their connection. The utility serves 2,536 residential and 276 commercial customers in Boise. Additional information is available at: puc.idaho.gov/case/Details/7607.
