Idaho, like the rest of the world, is feeling the effects of an accelerating climate crisis, and approval of new and/or expanded fossil fuel- burning energy sources is contrary to the interest of the public. Expanding the Bennett Mountain gas plant would encourage the continued usage of this plant for years to come in order to generate the desired ROI for Idaho Power during a critical time for decarbonization. This project would not save Idahoans money, as the true costs would be externalized to the same communities that this project claims to be benefitting; via contributing to global warming and its myriad impacts, noise and air pollution, the Bennett Mountain Plant expansion would cost much more to the state of Idaho in the Long- term than the short-term reduction in electric bills would provide:' ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Name: Zoe Flanzer Submission Time: Jan 22 2026 2:37PM Email: zoeflanzer@gmail.com Telephone: 978-844-8450 Address: 300 S Straughan Ave Boise, ID 83712 Name of Utility Company: Idaho Power Case ID: IPC-E-25-29 Comment: "I want to oppose the expansion of the Bennett Mountain Power Plant and the issuance of a CPCN and AFUDC.The expansion of a natural gas powerplant directly impedes efforts and future sustainability goals. Saving ratepayers a few cents won't matter and will be vastly outweighed by the long-term effects of climate change and the air pollution that this plant would contribute to.
