BOISE (Dec. 31, 2025)—The Idaho Public Utilities Commission has approved a proposed settlement that will allow Intermountain Gas to increase rates for its residential and general service commercial customers. The average residential customer's monthly bill will increase by $2.45, an increase of 6.02 percent. The average general service commercial customer's monthly bill will increase by $4.42, or 2.46 percent. The settlement also includes an increase in the monthly residential customer charge to $11.00, an increase of$3.00. The general service commercial customer will see an increase of$8.00, bringing the monthly charge to $23.00. The new rates take effect on Jan. 1, 2026. In its initial application, Intermountain Gas had asked to increase the average residential customer bill by $4.69 and increase the average general service commercial customer bill by $9.26. The utility sought the rate increases to pay for operation and maintenance costs that have increased by an average of 5.3 percent since the utility's last rate case and to pay for investments made in infrastructure. The Commission issue an order approving the settlement on Dec. 30, 2025. It determined the settlement allows Intermountain Gas to operate sustainably while protecting customers from a rate increase that would be burdensome.
