BOISE (Dec. 18, 2025)—The Idaho Public Utilities Commission has acknowledged a long- range planning document filed by Rocky Mountain Power that provides information on how the utility will meet customers' future needs for electricity. The utility, which serves customers in eastern Idaho, filed its 2025 Integrated Resource Plan (IRP)with the Commission on March 31, 2025. The IRP is filed every other year and is used by Rocky Mountain Power to guide the acquisition of resources. The utility said the plan analyzes different resources such as wind, solar, plant upgrades, energy storage and energy efficiency through software-based modeling to determine the best mix of resources. The plan also considers costs and risks associated with the resources. The utility plans to add additional wind resources, storage resources, solar resources and nuclear resources to meet the demand for electricity. Rocky Mountain Power anticipates adding approximately 17,000 additional customers to its service area by 2034. The Commission's acknowledgement of the IRP reflects that it is a working document that incorporates assumptions and projections at a specific point in time. The Commission acknowledges the utility's ongoing planning process, not the conclusions or results reached through the process. Additional information is available at: puc.idaho.gov/case/Details/7553.
