BOISE (Nov. 19, 2025)—The Idaho Public Utilities Commission has issued an order finding the rates and non-recurring fees Syringa Water Inc. charges its customers will allow the utility to cover operating expenses and obtain a fair return on capital investments. The Commission had previously received comments from customers expressing concerns about recent rate increases, and directed Commission Staff to investigate if the utility's rates were fair, just and reasonable. Staff conducted an on-site evaluation of Syringa Water's rates and its rate structure, billing statements, operating expenses, lease agreements and infrastructure investments. After reviewing the record for the case, the Commission determined that a$60 monthly fixed charge and a tiered volumetric rate based on water use per 1,000 gallons was fair, just and reasonable. In addition, Syringa Water will be allowed to charge up to $20 or the face amount of returned checks based on whichever amount is less, charge $50 for reconnecting customers after non-payment and impose a 1 percent monthly late payment charge. The utility serves 78 customers along the northern part of Lake Coeur d'Alene in Kootenai County. Additional information is available at: puc.idabo.gov/case/Details/7400.
