BOISE (Aug. 29, 2025)—The Idaho Public Utilities Commission has approved an application granting a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to a telecom utility that will allow it to provide local exchange telecommunications services in Idaho. The Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity will allow HyperFiber to offer high-speed internet and other digital services. Its legal name is West Fiber, LLC. HyperFiber plans to provide services throughout the state except in areas served by local exchange carriers. It was granted the Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity by the Commission on Aug. 22, 2025. The Commission is requiring HyperFiber to submit a comprehensive service description, including proposed customer classes and a detailed service area map, among other items. HyperFiber also will be required to submit a report in September of 2025, December of 2025 and March of 2026 that indicate the number of basic local exchange customers it has and the services being offered to them.
