BOISE (Aug. 19, 2025)—The Idaho Public Utilities Commission has approved an asset transfer agreement between Rocky Mountain Power and the city of Idaho Falls that will allow the city to provide electric service to a customer that was served by Rocky Mountain Power. The city and the utility formed a service allocation agreement in 2017 that is intended to decrease service duplication and increase stability in their service areas. The agreement permits the transfer of a customer's service between the city and Rocky Mountain Power if the party acquiring the customer pays compensation for lost revenue and distribution facilities used to serve the customer. Rocky Mountain Power said the transfer complied with Idaho code because it reduces service duplication without increasing rates for other customers.
