This used to be a public company and then was put into private hands with the promise to keep rates down, however, Idaho power has continued to increase rates and export power generated here in Idaho to California and other municipalities. If Idaho power wants to generate more income to offset increase costs, then they should increase the rates of their exported product rather than squeeze Idaho residents. I know that In California 1/3 of the people do not pay for their power bill... And I just don't understand why Idaho citizens are expected to pickup the tab. I don't feel like it's our responsibility to pay for power that California consumes and its citizens refuse to pay for. When Idaho power was put into private business hands, the promise was to keep rates low for Idaho citizens and yet that has not been the case. It's time to pass off these costs to those municipalities out of state that receive power from Idaho and let them pay for increased costs that Idaho power has expressed a need to cover financially." I recently became disabled & am barely making ends meet now& I know I am in better shape financially than many folks. I find it very troubling that the requested increase is so much higher for individuals, small businesses & agriculture than for corporations & manufacturing, it should be the other way around." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Name: Curt Starz Submission Time: Jun 18 2025 8:01 PM Email: cstarman41 @yahoo.com Telephone: 208-964-2981 Address: 10484 W Otter Rock Dr Star, ID 83669 Name of Utility Company: Idaho power Case ID: IPC-E-25-16 Comment: "I am writing in strong opposition to Idaho Power's proposed 17.3% general rate increase and the outrageous $10 hike to the monthly service charge. Raising the fixed monthly fee from $15 to $25—a 66% increase, punishes low-usage customers and undermines energy conservation. It's a regressive hit that affects retirees, working families, and anyone trying to keep their bills under control. Costs are already up across the board. Idaho Power's timing here is tone-deaf and unjustified, especially when executive compensation and shareholder profits remain untouched.Where's the sacrifice on their end? The Commission's job is to protect the public interest, not rubber-stamp monopoly rate grabs. I urge you to reject or significantly reduce this request, and require Idaho Power to demonstrate cost discipline before burdening Idaho families further. Thank you for your consideration." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2 Name: Diane Towne Submission Time: Jun 18 2025 8:43PM Name of Utility Company: Idaho Power Case ID: IPC-E-25-16 Comment: "I understand Idaho Power is requesting to increase rates by 13.09%which will increase the average rate by$21.66 per month, approx$260 per year. I've just become aware that the service charge may also be increasing, around $120 per year.An additional cost of$380 per year is significant. I can only hope PUC is looking very closely at the justification for this rate hike and at the ALL available options. As a retired individual and sole homeowner, this increase will be a challenge on a limited income. I'm concerned this is just a taste of things to come. I'd love to know if all the developers and businesses (e.g. Micron, Meta, etc.)will be paying their fair share with the ongoing development in Ada County. A hike of this magnitude is simply unreasonable and would place an undue burden on ratepayers. Before shifting more costs onto consumers, I believe that Idaho Power needs to demonstrate a clear and compelling need for the increase, as well as show that all internal cost-saving measures have been fully explored. I strongly urge regulators to reconsider and significantly scale back this proposal, taking into account the real financial strain it would impose on Idahoans. This has a huge financial impact for my family and those around me. Please consider a a significantly lower increase. Thank you for considering the public in this. I object to the request of a 17% hike on our electricity. understand that the price of business is going up but this is just too much. On a fixed income, it is already difficult. Every time I turn around, another price hike. Insurance, prescriptions, food, taxes. No relief in sight. Give the economy some time to improve and give us some breathing room first. So please consider the people that are here just trying to make it. We are your neighbors, your family. Thank you for your help in this situation." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The following comment was submitted via PUCWeb: Name: Robert Carpenter Submission Time: Jun 19 2025 4:29PM Email: fromsoca23@yahoo.com Telephone: 714-296-7410 Address: 134 S. Idaho Power just raised the service fee from $10 to$15 in January, a 50% increase and now they want to raise it to $25, an additional 66% increase for a total of 150%!!!!? No thank you. I am also against the 17.3% rate hike. That is a huge increase, especially for people on a fixed income. Please do not allow them to hike the service fees again or increase the rates that much.
