Good afternoon,
The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality(DEQ) has conducted a source water assessment(SWA)
for BEAR CLAW SUBD We11#1, providing basic information about the source used to provide drinking
water. Each SWA provides a delineation of the area contributing water to the drinking water source, a
potential contaminant inventory, and a susceptibility analysis which generates a final susceptibility
ranking of high, medium, or low for the following categories of contaminants: inorganic compound
(IOC), volatile organic compound (VOC), synthetic organic compound (SOC), and microbe.
The purpose of the assessment is to provide local leaders, water suppliers, and citizens with information
necessary to protect public drinking water sources from contamination.
The results of source water assessments should not be used as an absolute measure of risk, and a
particular ranking does not imply that any regulatory or legal actions will occur. DEQ strongly
encourages each public water system and community to use its source water assessment, combined
with local knowledge and concerns,to develop strategies to protect your drinking water sources.
Please review the SWA and provide any comments by 5/21/2025. If DEQ does not receive comments
from you by this date, it is assumed that you have no comments and the summary report will be
finalized.
