Part of the increase is attributed to increased services (new buildings and residences). Don't these new users pay power bills? If additional infrastructure is required. These costs should be borne by those needing the new services. What happened to the money allocated for"green" energy investments that was supposed to insulate current users from increasing costs? Was this an agenda unrelated to supplying electrical services? Increasing the service charge from $15 to $25 per month is a terrible idea for users. This increased charge is a disincentive for IPC to be efficient. When money is coming in unrelated to services rendered, IPC will have little to no incentive to hold down costs or make wise investments. At this point, I would like to see a rebate to current users for the unwise investments in "clean" energy already spent. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The following comment was submitted via PUCWeb: Name: James Wanek Submission Time: Jul 5 2025 2:31 PM Email: wandren@q.com Telephone: 208-322-6221 Address: 3420 W Grove Ct Boise, ID 83705 Name of Utility Company: Idaho Power Case ID: IPC-E-25-16 1 Comment: "I am opposed to the General Rate Increase proposed by Idaho Power at the same time they are claiming energy is so cheap that they want to decrease the price paid to solar producers for excess energy by 80%! Idaho Power needs to stand by its commitment implied to residential solar producers by approving plans for solar projects as they were adopted whether before or after 2019:' -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The following comment was submitted via PUCWeb: Name: Harmon Hurren Submission Time: Jul 6 2025 5:22PM Email: hhurren9(@gmail.com Telephone: 208-466-6804 Address: 3301 Magnolia Ln Emmett, ID 83617 Name of Utility Company: Idaho Power \Case ID: IPC-E-25-16 Comment: "I do not agree with Idaho Power's request to increase the service charge to $25.00 per month. When we developed our property 4 years ago, we were advised to have one meter on the house line and a second meter on the barn line. This would allow us to get the agricultural rate on the barn line and that would save us some money. The service charge was $5.00 when we first built our barn and then the charge increased to$10.00 and then to $15.00. Now they want to increase it$25.00 a month. Our barn line electricity use has never been more then $2.00 a month plus the service charge. With the propsed increase, we would pay$25 for the barn service plus about$2 for electricity used. That does not seem reasonable tome. Please deny their request for the increase in the service fee. This rate increases is extremely excessive, especially considering the recent ECR case (IPC-E-25-15) proposing ridiculous rates to solar customers. The fixed monthly service charge has increased 300% over the last two years, and now an additional 2/3rds for a overall increase of 500%. Any increase reduces customer incentive to consume less electricity. Reducing usage by say 1 kWh/day has less of an impact when this fixed service charge is larger portion of entire monthly bill. Also where is the service charge adjustment for rooftop solar customers who rely less on the Idaho Power' s grid?"
