Only last year the service fee was raised from $5 to $15, and the proposed $25 fee is plain theft. The burden is uneven: Uneven Burden: Residential and small business customers face over double the percentage rate increase of large commercial/industrial users. Families, seniors, and farmers bear the brunt, while big corporations benefit." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The following comment was submitted via PUCWeb: Name: Jeff Haskin Submission Time: Jun 10 2025 9:16AM Email: bootlegjeff gmaiLcom Telephone: 208-631-3070 Address: 266 Mango dr Eagle, ID 83616 Name of Utility Company: Idaho Power Case ID: IPC-E-25-16 Comment: "I am expressing my opposition to the outlandish, and excessive rate increase requested by Idaho power. Not only is it poor timing in relation to the ongoing ravages of overall inflation and all the "stick it to ya" mentality that has become a feeding frenzy on the public, making nearly everything, especially in context with one another untenable and unsustainable. Idaho power is jumping on the bandwagon in such an unreasonable way, expecting the hard working, and oppressed families and farmers to foot the bill so that 1 once again, maximum profit is gained by them and the "mega corps"they are in league with. Growth should be funded from the growth, not the existing customers. There is a drastic, unfair share of this highly questionable plan that puts the burden of all this "expansion" and change on the shoulders of struggling families. Please deny this request in its present form and urge a revision of this plan to be rethought and changed to more fairly reflect the shared cost distribution wisely, fairly and properly." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The following comment was submitted via PUCWeb: Name: Mark Parsons Submission Time: Jun 10 2025 11:42AM Email: mdparsons2687Cgmail.com Telephone: 208-870-3041 Address: 2687 W Neff St Boise, ID 83702 Name of Utility Company: Idaho Power Case ID: IPC-E-25-1 Comment: "Dear Commissioner, I am writing to express my strong opposition to Idaho Power's proposed 2025 general rate increase, as detailed on their website: https://www.idahopower.com/about-us/company- information/rates-and-regulatory/idaho-power-2025-general-rate-case. This rate hike far exceeds the rate of inflation and will have a disproportionate and harmful impact on residential customers, small businesses, and Idahoans on fixed incomes. In a time when many families are already facing higher costs across the board—from food to housing to healthcare—this kind of utility rate increase is notjust ill-timed, it is unjust. What makes this proposal even more egregious is that it comes alongside Idaho Power's ongoing efforts to disincentivize residential solar power. Instead of empowering homeowners to generate clean, renewable energy and contribute to grid resilience, the utility continues to erect barriers to solar adoption—essentially sidelining a zero- emissions, cost-effective energy source in favor of outdated and polluting gas-powered generation. 2 We should be encouraging, not penalizing, distributed energy solutions like rooftop solar. These systems ease demand on the grid, reduce long-term infrastructure costs, and provide an affordable path toward the carbon reductions Idaho must achieve if we are to avoid the worst effects of climate change. Idaho Power's preference for expanding fossil fuel infrastructure over sustainable alternatives is not only environmentally reckless—it's economically short-sighted. Ratepayers should not be forced to subsidize expensive new gas generation facilities while the utility ignores cleaner, cheaper, and community-driven solutions. As your constituent, I urge you to reject this rate increase and hold Idaho Power accountable to its customers and to the public good.We need a regulatory and political environment that supports affordability, equity, and a sustainable energy future—not one that rewards outdated thinking and corporate profits at the expense of the people of Idaho. Please use your authority to stop this unjust rate hike and advocate for policies that encourage renewable energy and protect working families. Are you kidding me?! This will hurt everyone in these uncertain economic times but especially fixed incomes seniors, working families, low income folks, and small businesses. Furthermore, the demand for electricity has increased for the first time in a long time, and Idaho Power is undermining proactive customers that have adopted solar energy. Please take all of our concerns seriously. Don't rubber stamp Idaho Power's requests! It appears that your rate increase is not across the board but seems to favor large corporation and industry. It seems that in order to be fair you would raise all rate-payers evenly. Many of our large business interests in this state already get tax incentives etc. This skewed rate request is just further evidence of the bias towards large and influential business. The effect is passing the additional costs on to the small user. This big player bias has to stop. Let it be in this case. -Thank you, Darryl Speiser" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The following comment was submitted via PUCWeb: Name: James Fischer Submission Time: Jun 10 2025 3:21 PM Email:jf-fscher@hotmail.com Telephone: 253-576-4497 Address: 1369 Ashley Dr. Twin Falls, ID 83301 Name of Utility Company: Idaho Power Case ID: E-25-16 Comment: "I believe Idaho Power's request for another 17.35% in crease and another additional meter fee increase is absolutely unreasonable. Idaho Powerjust received an increase to both in January of this year. I am a Power and solar customer and they requested a rule change on solar users to increase our costs at the meter and reduce what they would credit us for unused power generation. Not only are the increases to solar users 7 unfair they are discrimatory in nature. We were told this would alleviate the cost for those who do not have solar, now they are ask8ng to increase the costs on everyone again?
