RE: case # IPC-E-25-15
I installed 26 solar panels on the roof of my house in American Falls
summer 2022. My thinking was what could I do to slow Global Warming-as
an individual and what could I do to keep the house livable when the power
would go out—which it rarely does. The federal govt was providing income
tax breaks for solar panels and Idaho Power was then also encouraging
their installation.
That was 2022. Now in 2025 Idaho Power wants to drastically cut the
amount of credit they give us on our power bill each month. There were
several months I had no bill—except for a $5 fee they still charged me—
bookkeeping or something. And I could see a time when my lower power
bill would effectively pay off the cost of installing the solar panels and
batteries. Now that possibility has gone away. I won't live that long. (I just
turned 90.)
It seems to me Idaho Power has broken the contract I had with them
in 2022.
Further the Sierra Club, the conservation group, says the study Idaho
Power presented to you in support for cutting our rebate, is flawed. I
believe. you have that information in detail.
If you approve Idaho Power's request the number of Idahoans like
me who would like to install solar will be reduced to near zero. Only those
with money and a concern about Global Warming will put them up.
Please disapprove Idaho Power's request. Tell Idaho Power they are
on the wrong side of Global Warming, not helping Idaho citizen's
pocketbooks, nor are they providing the leadership the state's largest
power producer should be providing the people of Idaho, the nation and the
world.
Thank you for all the work you do for the citizens of Idaho!
Sincerely
