We,the Board of Directors from Priest Lake Food Bank, would like to express our shock and strong
opposition to the proposed increase to our water rates from the current$37/month to $100/month as
outlined in the application from Priest Lake Water LLC.
The Priest Lake Food Bank is a nonprofit corporation that has been serving the needs of this community
for over twenty years. We recently purchased a commercial lot in the Marvin Estates subdivision and
plan to construct a building soon to replace the inadequate facilities we are currently using.
It is our opinion that the proposed 170% increase is unreasonable and excessive.The additional cost for
this basic service would place an undue and exceptionally difficult financial burden on our organization.
We respectfully ask that the Commission carefully examine and reexamine the application from PLW
(Jared Horlacher, owner) for exaggerated costs, necessary vs. unnecessary improvements, unrealistic
hookup fees, or other relevant factors. We are anticipating that you will give careful scrutiny to what he
claims is reasonable.
We do not have any other options for water available to us outside of Priest Lake Water LLC as we
understand it. We were assured at both the February IPUC Workshops that the Commission is listening
to the property owners' concerns that have been submitted, and we trust that you will fulfill your
responsibility to provide equal protection and fairness to all involved. We appreciate your role in this
process and the work you are doing to find a reasonable and more tolerable solution for all of us.
