IPC-E-24-34. On August 14, 2024, Jim Naumann filed a formal complaint with the Idaho Public Utilities Commission ("Commission") against Idaho Power Company ("Company"). Mr. Naumann alleges that, while expanding his garage sometime before June 15, 2024, the Company required him to install a new 160-foot power line "from the street to the house." Complaint at 1. According to Mr. Naumann, the Company falsely asserted that the existing power line was too short and could not be spliced. Mr. Naumann alleges that splicing the existing line was unnecessary as the wires were in a conduit and the new meter box is nearly a yard closer to the distribution box than the old meter box. Mr. Naumann further alleges that the trench for the new conduit damaged his sprinkler system and an "area of old sage this is irreplaceable." Id. Mr. Naumann seeks financial compensation from Idaho Power for the allegedly "unnecessary work." RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the Commission issue a Summons to the Company directing it to answer or otherwise respond to the Complaint within twenty-one (21) days. COMMISSION DECISION Does the Commission wish to issue a Summons to the Company directing it to answer or otherwise respond to the Complaint within twenty-one (21) days?
