Comment: "Respectfully request the Commission reject the proposed rate increases. The proposal
requesting rate increases are to bolster the profits of Veolia, and those requested by Suez prior to the
name change. These rate change requests are made about every 2 years since 2018. Since Veolia is a
multinational company, I'm certain that the prosposed rate increases are spread across the Veolia
enterprise. What water systems outside of the Treasure Valley are benefiting from these rate increases?
In 2023 reported revenue of the parent company were 45.351 Billion Euro."

because any business passes the costs on to the customer."

Comment: "Veolia's proposed rate increase is excessive and appears to be covering their costs of
expanding capacity to provide services to new customers. New development should be covering the
costs of expanded capacity not existing customers. Conservation measures should be a part of
expansion considerations to ensure good stewardship of our water resources.
Reliable and safe water is critical and something we depend on. However an increase of 20.5%on the
heels of their previous recent increase appears excessive. These are challenging economic times for
many. An increase of this magnitude needs to be meticulously justified. Any increase should focus on
serving existing customers and water resource stewardship, not increasing capacity and company profit..
Thank you for your consideration. "

Subject: Regarding Proposed Rate Increase for Veolia Water Co., case#VEOW 2401.
Dear Commissioners,
I am writing to express my concerns regarding your recent request for a rate review and potential
increase in water rates. While I appreciate your efforts to improve water infrastructure and ensure
reliable service, I must share the significant challenges my household has faced since Veolia acquired the
water utility.
2
Over the past year, my water bill increased by approximately 30%,which has been a substantial financial
burden. This increase came without a corresponding rise in my income, and like many of your customers,
I am struggling to manage the additional costs. The proposed rate hike would further strain my budget,
making it increasingly difficult to afford basic utilities.
In addition to the financial impact, our water quality has significantly declined. The water now has an
unpleasant taste and odor, forcing my household to purchase bottled water for drinking and watering
our plants. Our plants have noticeably struggled with the current water quality, and this is deeply
concerning given that we used to have excellent water before Veolia took over operations.
While I understand that infrastructure improvements are necessary, I urge you to consider alternative
funding options, such as state or federal grants or phased investments,to avoid placing the financial
burden solely on customers I question whether your investments have yielded tangible benefits for
customers like me, considering the decline in water quality and the rising costs.
In these challenging economic times, I respectfully request that you reconsider your rate review request
and focus on restoring the quality of service your customers expect and deserve. I hope Veolia will
prioritize affordability and service improvements in its plans.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response.
Sincerely,
Jayne Feik
