NEWS RELEASE: Commission approves rate increase for water utility that serves Boise
customers.
BOISE (Dec. 20, 2024)—The Idaho Public Utilities Commission has approved a rate increase
for Capitol Water Corporation, which serves residential, commercial and private fire protection
customers in Boise.
In an application to the commission asking for the rate increase, Capitol Water proposed to
increase its service charge by $5.12 monthly for all customers. The utility said that amount
represented a 24.61 percent increase for customers and would increase the company's annual
revenues by $174,068. The utility asked for the rate increase to cover operation expenses and
increase compensation for its employees.
In the commission's order issued Dec. 19, it granted Capitol Water an approximate 16.44 percent
increase for all customers. The majority of the utility's customers have a 3-quarter inch
connection, and their monthly bills will increase by approximately $2.10.
