As I'm a former Eagle Water costumer, my rates are currently already being jacked. Adding another layer of rate jacking seems like too much jacking. Perhaps waiting until the current jacking is done before starting another round would give costumers a little financial breather. Thanks for your consideration." --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The following comment was submitted via PUCWeb: Name: Daniel Fowler Submission Time: Dec 19 2024 8:17PM Email: sadan28@starpower.net Telephone: 202-316-3848 Address: 18808 N Summer PI Garen City, ID 83714 Name of Utility Company:Veolia Case ID: VEO-W-24-01 Comment: "I am writing to request the Commission deny Veolia's requested rate increase of 19.84%. While I understand inflationary pressures have likely increased Veolia's operating costs, let's not forget their rate paying Idaho customers have also been struggling with those very same inflationary pressures. While the overall rate of inflation has dropped considerably over the past few months, prices have not (and likely will not) drop back down to their pre-inflation levels any time soon. As a result, many Idahoans are still struggling. Even in the best of times I wouldn't consider a rate increase of 19.84%to be fair or equitable, but for Veolia to make a request of this magnitude while Treasure Valley residents are still trying to get back on track is grossly self-serving. I urge the Commission not to forget that Veolia requested a similarly unreasonable rate increase (of 24.1%) back in 2022. Thankfully, the Commission appreciated the adverse effects such a large increase would have on Idahoans in the Treasure Valley, and adjusted the increase downward to 7.06%. Having failed in its initial attempt to push the majority of its infrastructure investment and improvement costs on to rate payers, it's not surprising that Veolia is making a second attempt. If approved, the currently proposed rate increase of 19.84%, when combined with the most recent 7.06% increase, would bring Veolia's cumulative rate increase over the past 2-3 years to 26.9%. A rate increase of that scale over such 1 a short period of time doesn't seem fair or reasonable. I implore the Commission to study Veolia's request closely, and ensure any authorized rate increases are in the best interests of average Idahoans." --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The following comment was submitted via PUCWeb: Name: Mark Drew Submission Time: Dec 20 2024 7:45AM Email: mldcollege@outlook.com Telephone: 208-391-9890 Address: 11710 W. It bills customers to pay for its own expenses and then expects to increase profits from 4-5%to 17%. 1 get 0.001% interest on my savings and checking accounts and online banking only gets 1.5% interest. Why do i have to pay for a company to make more money on a 'public utility'? if it takes multiple years for the company to make up the money that it spent to upgrade its equipment and processes, that is the way business works. Increasing the cost to customers again, after a rate hike 2 years ago, seems like robbing to poor to make the rich richer. Please say NO to this rate increase and consider changing vendors. Water resources should be managed for conservation and the company that manages and provides the water for domestic use should encourage conservation and provide a means or incentive to reduce water use and water waste. But that should not be only by increasing the price of an essential commodity." --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The following comment was submitted via PUCWeb: Name: Connie Witt Submission Time: Dec 20 2024 8:25AM Email: constancewitt@gmail.com Telephone: 208-342-5770 Address: 3538 N 39th Street Boise, ID 83703 Name of Utility Company:Veolia Case ID: VEO-W-24-01 Comment: "Cannot believe that Veolia is requesting a rate increase, especially at the huge amount. Water is already high here in City of Boise. So many people are opting not to water their lawns in the summer months due to the exorbitant current rates and therefore neighborhoods are beginning to look run down. Why are the developers not paying for the additional water lines, etc? 2 And why and how did the City of Boise and PUC allow a foreign company to own the water rights in a USA town? Shame on the city. This must have gone through without too much public notice. Very disgusted with the proposed rate increase." --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The following comment was submitted via PUCWeb: Name: Lynn Holt Submission Time: Dec 20 2024 11:40AM Email: lynlen@comcast.net Telephone: 706-409-5242 Address: 9728 W Sagebrush St Boise, ID 83709 Name of Utility Company:Veolia Case ID: VEO-W-24-01 Comment: "When it comes to rate increases, I hope consideration has been made for seniors and their limited income/budgets. Perhaps a rate break like Idaho does for property tax? It's not like we have much of a choice when it comes to water suppliers. Thank you." --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The following comment was submitted via PUCWeb: Name: Snjezana Nikolic Submission Time: Dec 20 2024 1:44PM Email: zlatkonikolic@msn.com Telephone: 208-371-7239 Address: 10735 West Susan Street Boise, ID 83713 Name of Utility Company:Veolia Case ID: VEO-W-24-01 Comment: "We do not agree with rate change, it's already overpriced. Since,Veolia took over the water it's been much increased. Our bill was in summer time not been more than $30, and now December bill is $46.93 when is most of the time 1 person in the house!" --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The following comment was submitted via PUCWeb: Name: Kathryn Rodgers Submission Time: Dec 20 2024 2:47PM Email:tealeaf323@outlook.com Telephone: 949-390-2040 Address: 1108 e Bannock St 3 boise, ID 83712 Name of Utility Company: veolia Case ID: VEO-W-24-01 Comment: "This rate increase request should be rejected. They just raised rates; what did they actually implement that benefits the community? With the overall cost of living creeping up, utilities need to be held consistent and not allow price creep." --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4
