Let the people who are paying for Lava Ridge pay for this not the common Idaho taxpayer. Reduce or eliminate the base rate--that everyone pays...it is regressive in nature. 2.expand the tier one to 2500 klw, and increase the rate on the second &third tier(to a reasonable amount. 3.this would give them a small increase...they are not worthy of anymore than that!" ------------------------------------------------------------------------- The following comment was submitted via PUCWeb: Name: Mark Parsons Submission Time: Nov 14 2024 10:40AM Email: mdparsons2687@gmail.com Telephone: 208-870-3041 Address: 2687 W Neff St Boise, ID 83702 Name of Utility Company: Idaho Power Case ID: IPC-E-24-07 Comment: "Idaho Power's request for a rate increase of over 7% is not only unreasonable but also deeply concerning for residents, particularly those on fixed incomes. This increase far exceeds the current rate of inflation and places an unnecessary burden on consumers who already have limited alternatives, given Idaho Power's monopoly status. Before resorting to rate hikes, Idaho Power should first examine internal cost-saving opportunities. Operating as a monopoly comes with a responsibility to ensure operational efficiency, which means eliminating unnecessary overhead, conducting audits to identify waste, and implementing modern technologies to streamline processes. Customers deserve assurance that Idaho Power is a lean, well- managed organization before they're asked to pay more. Additionally, rather than leaning on customers for increased revenue, Idaho Power should prioritize investment in truly renewable energy resources like wind and solar power. Idaho is rich in these resources, and harnessing them more effectively would not only reduce future operational costs but also contribute to a more sustainable and resilient energy system. As renewable energy technology advances, the long-term savings and environmental benefits can be substantial, benefiting Idaho residents and the company alike. Investing in renewable energy isn't just environmentally responsible—it's financially prudent, providing a hedge against fluctuating fuel prices and potential future regulations. Idaho Power has the opportunity to lead by example, demonstrating that a utility monopoly can be both efficient and forward-thinking in its commitment to sustainable energy. Instead of focusing on short-term rate hikes, Idaho Power should commit to sustainable growth that benefits its customers and the environment." -------------------------------------------------------------------------
