Additional Comments:
IPUC inspector Perkins & Brooks observed Das-Co a contractor for IGC install 3/4" service lines at
addresses 16606 & 16588 Chambers Way in Caldwell, ID. Upon exposing the stub at 16588 Chambers
Way, it was discovered that the electrical contractor had driven a ground rod in and punctured the 1/4"
stub causing a gas leak. FOC and Service Tech for IGC responded to take LEL readings and to comprise
an isolation/repair plan. Management for Das-Co were called to scene to discuss isolation and repair
techniques. Das-Co personnel exposed the live stub line approximately 15 feet upstream of the damaged
section and squeezed off the service line and made the necessary repairs. The electrical contractor who
had caused the leak was in the subdivision and came over to discuss with IGC personnel how to avoid
this line strike in the future. Observations included: Safety equipment, trenching, backfilling, line-
locating, squeezing, fusing, stab fittings, EFV install, leak LEL surveying, tracer-wire, pressure testing
and purging. Quizzed employees on span of control, purging and squeeze and release times. All
procedures were observed in compliance with IGCs Operations and Maintenance Manual.
