Inspection Summary
A field incident evaluation was performed to identify the status and nature of an incident
significant in the eyes of Intermountain Gas Company.
IGC reported at 1155 on 4-11-2024 that a washout on Highway 16 (Freeze Out Hill)had occurred and
exposed the 6" Steel H.P. Main approximately 6' from the edge of the highway. Idaho Transportation
Department(ITD)had been onsite and evaluating the conditions after substantial recent rainfall and
discovered the exposed piping. There was an estimated length of 10' of the pipeline exposed. During the
field evaluation and follow up, ITD and IGC engineering were communicating and working together for
a mitigation plan. Daily monitoring was to be performed by IGC for the pipeline itself and soil
conditions.
Email correspondence was made with IGC compliance personnel to request the repair work schedule so
that IPUC could attempt to be on-site for the mitigation and associated repair work as available.
