We also operate a very small internet based business out of our home. Business this year is the worst we have had since establishing it. Property taxes going up four hundred Dollars due to a school bond that was passed. Our electric bill has gone up steadily every year in spite of being on "Budget Pay" for at least five years. There is no increase in SS every time some corporation or taxing entity gets a whim to increase their profit margin and the well is only so deep. Here is an example of our Budget program over the last few years. Winter usage depends on just how cold winter decided to be, but our Kilowatt hours are fairly close year to year. WE have replaced all lighting with those expensive LEDs, Our heat pump was replaced roughly seven or eight years ago, Thermopanes through out. From the following month/year: August 2022 34.4 KWH , Billed "Budget Balance" $166.00 August 2023 33.1 KWH, Billed "Budget Balance" $155.00 August 2024 34.8 KWH, Billed "Budget Balance". $231.99 Reviewing ID Powers billing graph highest usage for the 21/22 year was in Dec 21 63.5 KWH,Jan 22 85.1 KWH, Feb 22 85.8, Mar 74.5 Apr22 52.2. 22/23: Dec 22 84.8KWH,Jan 23 89.6KWH, Feb 23. 89KWH, Mar 23. 93.9KWH, Apr 23 75.9KWH. 23/24: Dec 23 110.7KWH (no wood to burn),Jan 24 114.1KWH (No wood to burn), Feb 24 87.9KWH, Mar 24 79.7KWH, Apr 24 52.2KWH. My wife doesn't even run the dryer unless absolutely necessary. As in being very cold outside or our indoor drying rack is full. We have been notified that our Budget will now be increased to $255.00 a month. This is obviously before any other rate increases have been granted by the PUC to Idaho power. Our power usage this last winter went up as we didn't have an extra three hundred Dollars a cord for wood. Generally we supplement our winter heat with wood to keep the power bill down. We do not just burn power because it sounds like fun and have taken as many measure we could afford to mitigate our usage. Like I said earlier, Everyone seems to be able to protest and grab higher wages. We who are on Social Security don't have that luxury and the times we do get an increase, it covers not much, especially after Medicare see you got a raise and then they take most of it in rate increases. We cannot afford to have our power rates constantly increased and still have food on the table. This has to stop. Thank you for your time. Once upon a time Natural Gas was being pipped to this area, but it was halted on the Montana side of the state line as Idaho Power promised that electric rates would always remain low and gas was not needed.Almost forgot about that. Seems like that was then and this is now, history has no meaning. Thankyou ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
