Comment: "I wish to express my concern over the Idaho Power request for a 7.25% residential rate
increase. The "meet growing customer demand" comment in their notice implies that they are using the
current customers to fund the expansion of their infrastructure so as to service new development. The
burden of expansion of the power grid as demanded by new construction should not be placed on
existing customers. As state employees,the raises for my wife and have typically been in the 3% range.
Time after time I see utilities request rate increases which exceed the income increase of our household.
I would like to see a statement from Idaho Power saying that this increase will not be used to expand
their power grid to provide service to new developments.
Additionally, I would respectfully request that the PUC look carefully at any utility increases that exceed
the average salary increase within Idaho.
