Directs all strategic aspects of Products & Services and Customer Facing Technology which includes, metering, billing, and communication (web, mobile, and voice) with the goal of improving customer engagement, experience and loyalty as well as improving employee experience. This role is responsible for ensuring Avista’s product offerings are on the forefront of technological innovation, synthesizing information including market trends, technology innovation, competitor business models, regulatory requirements and customer expectations in order to identify opportunities and threats that will inform products and services and customer technology strategy, ultimately providing our customers choice that will benefit their individual circumstances. Principal Accountabilities: (List the 5-7 major results or outcomes of this position.) 1. Guides the development of energy efficiency savings strategic direction in accordance with state-mandated energy savings targets. Develops and ensures compliance of energy efficiency annual and biennial business plans. Oversees the evaluation, measurement and verification of claimed energy savings through the execution of audits and analysis to attain cost recovery. 2. Ensures all energy efficiency objectives are met and provides oversight of the multi-million-dollar budget in a manner that promotes efficiency and cost effectiveness, quality delivery of energy efficiency services, customer satisfaction and loyalty and employee development. 3. Develops new strategies to promote expansion of Avista Utilities’ energy efficiency programs. Directs business analysis to understand trends, anticipate future needs, and determine market opportunities to cost-effectively grow our energy efficiency programs, drive customer participation, and increase customer satisfaction. 4. Serves as a liaison with commission staff, commission counsel, public counsel and other utilities’ personnel. May represents the company before public utility commissions, legislative bodies and external stakeholders, on the results and progress of energy efficiency initiatives to assure cost-recovery and support for new and existing program offerings. Advise company on state mandated and energy efficiency policy and implementation expectations relative to operational results and penalty exposure. 5. Directs the development of the products and services and customer technology strategic direction with the Product and Service and Customer Technology teams as well as other stakeholders. Develop and maintain an effective and appropriate roadmap and pipeline of offerings in all product life cycle stages. Ensure that all products and services and customer technology initiatives are evaluated based upon defined metrics. 6. Develops and leads overall employee performance, productivity, and development within the energy efficiency, products and services and customer technology teams to meet the company’s strategic goals while managing multiple simultaneous activities in a quickly changing environment. Continually evaluate tactics and plans for resource optimization within the teams to meet changing conditions and operational results while maximizing the utilization of team member’s strengths. Avista’s Student Engineering Development Program (SEDP) is a paid summer internship program which offers a variety of opportunities for electrical, civil, mechanical or other engineering students to enhance their field of study in the utility industry and to gain valuable work experience critical to their future success in the job market. The SEDP gives engineering students the opportunity to work on projects in several different departments within Avista and the program is geared around student development.
