The steps can be: 40%( ) 60%( )75%( MW),90%( MW),and 100%( MW). These positions can vary,depending on the SNL and BEP wicket gate positions. The usual rough zone,typically in the middle range of load,should be avoided.At each loading point: ❑ Adjust the voltage set point to achieve+20 MVAR. Collect MOD-026 data using the DECS-400 and collect generator 3rd harmonic data using SEL-300G. ❑ Adjust the voltage set point to achieve-20 MVAR. Collect MOD-026 data using the DECS-400 and collect generator 3rd harmonic data using SEL-300G. ❑ At each loading position per above, review AVR& PSS operation and performance. If performance is unacceptable,tune AVR. Perform step test and review response. May require to reduce loading. ❑ During AVR Tuning perform governor step responses below. ❑ Get data for steady state for about 3-5 minutes at each load ❑ Inject a positive and negative 0.3 Hz frequency at each loading level ❑ With a 5%droop=>10%change in gate position. ❑ Load to 25%(_MW) ❑ Starting Gate position= Ending Gate Position = ❑ Time for Step= Time to return= ❑ Load to 50%( MW) ❑ Starting Gate position = Ending Gate Position = ❑ Time for Step= Time to return = ❑ Load to 75%( MW) ❑ Starting Gate position = Ending Gate Position= ❑ Time for Step= Time to return= ❑ Load to Pmax( MW) ❑ Starting Gate position = Ending Gate Position= ❑ Time for Step= Time to return= 10 Page Revised 05/03/2023 Hells Canyon Rewind find Control System Upgrade Commissioning Plan Internal Use Only ❑ Take readings while allowing the bearing temperatures to stabilize at each setting(consider running overnight to heat soak bearings for quicker stabilization) ❑ Return unit to unity power factor. ❑ Collect PD test data while the machine is at 100%rated output(High Load—Hot Machine) if possible. ❑ Finalize AVR, PSS and VAR-501 commissioning - Record Timeframe ❑ Online Voltage Setpoint Step Test-While operating at the BEP and after the above data points have been collected,adjust the voltage set point to set the stator voltage to approximately 100%of nominal with PSS on. Once stable, perform a 10 second 2%step in the voltage setpoint using the DECS-400. Multiple step responses will be performed. ❑ While operating at 100%rated output,adjust the voltage set point to achieve the minimum MVAR output up to the under-excitation limiter in the AVR. Collect MOD-025 data using the DECS-400 and collect generator 3rd harmonic data using SEL-300G. ❑ Balance Vars with sister machine. ❑ While operating at 100%rated output,adjust the voltage set point to achieve the maximum MVAR output up to the overexcitation limiter in the AVR. Hold this operating point for one hour.
