Inspection Summary
Audit consisted of inspecting field installed equipment and operator qualification for the Pocatello, Idaho
inspection units. Records and procedures for all Idaho Intermountain Gas Units were inspected in March 2018
at the Intermountain Gas Company(IGC) headquarters in Boise, Idaho.
July 20, 2018: (1 Standard Prep)
Prepared for the field audit of Intermountain Gas Company's natural gas distribution pipeline for the Pocatello,
Idaho inspection unit. Reviewed operators operations/maintenance manuals, emergency manuals, operator
qualification procedures and the previous years audit results. Prepared PHMSA Form 2 and IPUC Forms and
worksheets for the inspection.
July 23-25,2018: (6 Standard)
Met with IGC company representatives in the Pocatello district office for in-brief and to begin field audit.
Regulator Stations 60092, 60093, 60094, 60095, 60096, 60097, 60098, 60099, 60100, 60102, 60103, 60105,
60106, 60107, 60108, 60109, 60110, 60111 and 60115 were inspected for proper operating parameters,
regulator lock-up, relief device operation, cathodic protection pipe-to-soil readings, pipe-to soil interface wrap
protection, station warning signs and right-of-way clearances.
Five casing-to-carrier isolation checks,three cathodic protection rectifiers,five pipeline patrol, and five
emergency isolation valves were checked for proper operation and found to be operating properly.
An IPUC Form 3 (exit interview)was performed following the district inspection with JJ Murphy(Operations
Manager), Kelley Gorringe (Pipeline Safety Specialist), Kelly Crystal (Cathodic Technician) and Sherm Schmidt
(Meter Inspector) of Intermountain Gas Company.
Observations:
Reg Stations: 60109 and 60110 failed lock-up. Meter inspector replaced seats on the spot.
Reg Stations: 60094 failed lock-up. Meter inspector greased plug valve as it was leaking by.
Reg Stations: 60097 relief valve would not reseat. Meter inspector greased plug valve.
Reg Station : 60091 was retired.
