Comment: "We had a $65K solar system installed back in May 2021. We were told by Encor Solar that
the 2:1 kw/hr rate sent to the grid would be grandfathered. However,that was not the case. Recently,we
started receiving$150+ monthly bills from Idaho Power. When speaking with them,they stated we were
now being paid a variable rate for excess power generated depending on the time of day.This went from
an average of.12 cents per kw/hr in July 2024,to an average of.04 cents per kw/hr in Aug 2024. Now
our electricity costs have doubled.This is causing financial hardship when we were supposed to have a
fixed solar system loan payment with no electric bills. I am now a blind and disabled veteran living on a
fixed income.This has been a complete bait and switch by Idaho Power thus, harmfully inflationary
amidst all the other inflationary pressures the Nation is experiencing.
Idahoans are being encouraged to adopt green concepts and help contribute towards reducing resource
consumption i.e. electricity. In our case, we were lured in only to be financially punished and burdened
for doing so!
Now Idaho Power is asking for an electricity rate increase. Please stop the rate abuses! Especially,when
Idahoans spend tens of thousands on solar systems thinking they are helping, or pay off our loans plus,
the cost to remove them."
