REQUEST OF THE
COMMISSION STAFF
Capitol Water Corporation provides the following supplemental responses to the Second
Production Request of the Commission Staff to Capitol Water Corporation.
REQUEST NO. 24: Please provide a thorough and complete description of the water
system including the following details regarding the system as applicable:
a. The depth, width, length, capacity, construction materials of each well (including
backup wells, if any), and length of time in service;
b. The make, model, type, and rating of each well pump motor, and length of time in
service;
c. The make, model, capacity, and limit switch settings of each pressurized storage
tank, and length of time in service;
d. The make, model, capacity, and limit switch settings of each unpressurized
storage tank/reservoir, and length of time in service;

e. The make, model, and rating of each booster pump and motor, and length of time
in service;
f. The make, model, and capacity of all water treatment equipment, and length of
time in service;
g. The year, make, model, and capacity for backup generation supporting the well
pumps, and length of time in service. Indicate if the generation has an Automatic
Transfer Switch (ATS) or if it must be manually started; and
h. The distribution piping line size and materials specified in the installation, and
length of time in service.
COMPANY ORIGINAL RESPONSE: The Company is continuing to compile the
requested information for items a,b, f, g, and h, and will send the requested information when
the research has been completed. As to items c, d, and e, the Company does not have any
storage tanks or booster pumps. The Company recommends an onsite visit with the Water
Operator for a more thorough understanding of the water system.
COMPANY SUPPLEMENTAL RESPONSE: The Company has already responded to
items c, d, and e; in this response the Company submits the information for items a, b, f, g, and h.

a. Well Specifications:
Please see the well drillers logs provided in Company Response 26. The information
requested is available in the Well Driller Logs. These logs are available through the Well Docs
cell in the spreadsheet provided. The Well Driller Logs also specify the date the well went into
service.
b. Well Pump Motors:
Well #3: 100 Horsepower GE Model: 5M4444XG2Al2. In service since 1960. Since
that time there have been multiple rebuilds to the pump.
Well #4: 200 Horsepower GE Model: 5M6287XH4A. In service circa 1972. Since that
time there have been multiple rebuilds to the pump.
Well #5: 150 Horsepower GE Model: 5K6277XH1A. In service in 2003. Since that
time there have been multiple rebuilds to the pump.

Well #6: 150 Horsepower US Electrical Motor Model: High Thrust. In service circa
1993. Since that time there have been multiple rebuilds to the pump.
Well #7: 150 Horsepower US Electrical Motor Model: Unknown. In service since
1998. Since that time there have been multiple rebuilds to the pump.
f. Water Treatment Equipment: The Company treats all its water with phosphates. All
the water treatment equipment has been installed within the last 5 years for Wells 3, 4, 5, and 7.
Well 6 is the Aquifer Storage Recharge well, and receives water from Well #7, therefore the
water is already treated. The equipment is LMI Model: AA941. Capacity is not a factor. These
can be viewed onsite. The equipment injects phosphate when the pump runs to treat the iron and
manganese that is naturally occurring in the water.
g. Back-up Generator: There is a back-up generator at Well #4. It was installed in
August of 2004. It is serviced semi-annually. The generator has an automatic transfer switch.
h. Distribution Line Piping: The Company has 4-inch, 6-inch, 8-inch, and 12-inch
distribution pipes. The pipe materials are Cast Iron, Asbestos Cement, and PVC pipe. The map
provided in response to question 23 shows the pipe locations and sizes. The length of service for
the pipe varies from 64 years to 1 month old.
