Case # WS- Wm24m01 -StoneRidge Water Company General Rate Case
5th Production Request
REQUEST NO 62: In reference to Note 4 that states "Existing 1" meters may
be converted to .75" meters over time" discussed on Sheet 5 of the Marked-
up Tariff #5 submitted on March 20,22024 please explain:
(a) The Company's plan for converting existing 1-inch meters to .75-
inch meters for customers who only requested and/or need .75-inch meters.
The current Company plan is to leave the 1,-inch meters installed
indefinitely. We have a preliminary list of all these I." meters that were
installed, for the most part, during our ownership of StoneRidge Water
Company (2018-2024). Their billing records should have a note on them
indicating these accounts have a 1-inch meter that: is to be billed at .75-inch
rates until the original meters are replaced either with a .75-inch, in which
case the billing rate will not change, or if the customer exercises the option
to increase the size of the meter to 1" when given the option to "trade out"
to the .75-inch meter then the meters would be billed for the higher 1-inch
meter base rate.
(b) How will the Company ensure customers who requested and/or
only need a .75-inch meter but had a 1.0-inch meter installed are only
charged the .75-inch rate: and
The Company administrator is very familiar with the .75-inch vs 1-Inch
meter issue and after 3 years there is no reason for her or anyone else to be
changing billing codes for existing water accounts. In the event we are
adding new billing software and/or meters a master list of the existing 1-inch
meters being billed at .75-inch would be reviewed to ensure all customers
would be billed for the appropriate base rate.
(c) How the Company will track and document the customer's
request for the size of their service connection, the timing of the change to
the requested meter size, and the corresponding timing of their change in
rates.
The most likely scenario for the trade out of the existing 1-Inch meters
to .75-inch meters would be when the decision is to upgrade the water
meters to "Cellular Meters. Each of our newer Customers have a "Customer
4 Part Folder which contains their water service application, copy of their
pays-Yient/checks and notes/photos on their installs, This standard file folder
makes if very easy to verify customs account etc. The monthly base Rate
would be adjusted the next billing cycle after meter trade-out.
