VPI-W-24-01 IPUC THIRD PRODUCTION REQUEST OF THE COMMISSION STAFF TO VP INC. REQUEST NO. 29: "Please provide the total amount(in pounds) and cost of chlorine purchases (including sales tax) each month from January 2021 through December 2023." VP, similar to most other small to medium size PWS's, use liquid NSF approved, 12.5% sodium hypochlorite and unlike chlorine gas, volume used is in gallons instead of pounds. Total volume per month is unknown. Total cost per year is as follows: 2021 $1,524.00; 2022 $681.00; and 2023 $894.00. "In addition, please provide the total monthly usage of chlorine used(in pounds)for each well for the same time period." Usage per well is unknown. Usage would be generally associated with the larger 8" well. Based on today's prices for 12.5% liquid sodium hypochlorite of$14.86 per gallon including tax, in pounds, per year, would be: 2021 102.6 gallons 106.7 pounds 2022 45.8 gallons 47.7 pounds 2023 60.2 gallons 62.6 pounds NOTE: Over the past three years price and availability of chlorine has varied greatly. For our operation budget moving forward, 2023 pricing plus inflation should put us relatively close to anticipated actual cost. "Also please specify whether a solid or liquid form of Chlorine was used for each well." As identified above, liquid Chlorine was used. "Please provide your responses in spreadsheet(such as, Microsoft Excel)format with formulas intact." No spreadsheets are available for this response. REQUEST NO. 30: "On page 3 of the Sanitary Survey(Exhibit 4 of the Application) it states: ""The system currently serves 81 service connections, all of which are metered."" "Please respond to the following:" a. "Does the Company currently read the individual service connection meters? If so, how often are the meters read?" No, the Company does not read meters and all connections are not metered. b. "If the Company does read the individual service meters, please provide the monthly metered total customer water usage data (gallons) by customer type from January 2021 through December 2023. Please provide your responses in spreadsheet(such as, Microsoft Excell)format with formulas intact;" As noted above, the Company does not read individual meters. No spreadsheets are available for this response. c. "If the meters are not read, please explain why the meters are not read;" As stated above, not all service connects are metered. Reading meters would add additional cost to system operations that would be passed on to consumers. Third Production Request To VP Inc.RESPONSE Page 1 of d. "Please reconcile the difference between the 81 service connections mentioned in the Sanitary Survey and the 72 customers included in the customer list provided in response to Staff Production Request No. 21." The 81 service connections mentioned in the Sanitary Survey was based on a time when VP, Inc. served some areas that are no longer in their service area. The customer list provided in response to Staff Production Request No. 21 did not include all potential service connections within the VP service area. As noted in Staff Production Request No. 23, the actual number of potential service connections, at build out, now stands at 74.
