On May 17, 2000, the Commission received an Application from Universal Telecom, Inc. for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to provide competitive local telecommunications exchange services within the state of Idaho.
On July 13, 2000, the Commission ordered the Application be considered under Modified Procedure. Order No. 28436. On August 3, 2000, The Commission Staff filed comments, the only party to do so, and recommended the Application be approved subject to the posting of a $50,000 surety bond.
Based on the Staff’s comments, the law and the record, the Commission grants the Application and finds that the Certificate should be issued.
COMMISSION FINDINGS
Based on our review of the record, including the filed written comments and Staff’s recommendation, we find that the Application of Universal Telecom, Inc. complies with Procedural Order No. 26665 and the Commission’s Rules to obtain a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity.
O R D E R
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that Universal Telecom, Inc. is granted a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to provide competitive local telecommunications exchange services within the state of Idaho subject to the posting of a $50,000 surety bond.
THIS IS A FINAL ORDER. Any person interested in this Order or in interlocutory Orders previously issued in this Case No. UTI-T-00-1, may petition for reconsideration within twenty-one (21) days of the service date of this Order with regard to any matter decided in this Order or in interlocutory Orders previously issued in this Case No. UTI-T-00-1. Within seven (7) days after any person has petitioned for reconsideration, any other person may cross-petition for reconsideration. See Idaho Code § 61626.
