COMMISSION STAFF MOTION FOR EXTENSION OF TIME

COMES NOW the Commission Staff of the Idaho Public Utilities Commission, by and through its attorney of record, Cheri C. Copsey, Deputy Attorney General, and pursuant to Commission Rule 256 (IDAPA 31.01.01.256), moves for a short extension of time within which to file its brief concerning whether the Commission has jurisdiction to decide the issues raised by the Petitioner as required by Order No. 28281.
The Commission Staff’s brief is presently due Tuesday, March 21, 2000. Due to work load, Staff needs some additional time within which to file its brief. Staff counsel contacted Bill Batt, attorney for U S WEST, who had no objection to the additional time, provided the response schedule be changed to give both parties additional time to respond to Staff’s brief. Staff counsel contacted Jim Jones, attorney for the Petitioners, and left a message explaining that additional time was needed and letting him know that Staff intended to request an extension until Friday, March 24, 2000. There has been no response. Therefore, pursuant to Rule 256.03 (IDAPA 31.01.01.256.03), Staff requests the Commission enter an order changing the briefing schedule as follows:
