C. is taking public comment regardingcompeti tion in the cell phone industry. These comments are offered as my perspective thatcompetition between of cell phones and traditional "land lines " exists. As an attorney, all too often my cellular telephone is being used by my clients as the preferred choice ofcontact. More times than I care to recount I will be available , in my office , and mycell phone will ring. I know of several people who have abandoned tradi tional land linesand have chosen to utilize cell phones as their primary telecomunications choice. Myfamily in its small busines uses cellular telephones almost to the exclusion of thecompany I s land line. Cell phone companies are offering pricing packages that tradi tionalland line companies cannot match - particularly wi th regard to long-distance calling. There can be no question that the competi tion does exist and that , wi th the prevalence ofcell-phones in modern life , the cell phone industry will continue to be more competitive. Wireless and IP voice and data services are on the rise. Please take theshackles off Qwest so they can compete fairly. I used to think it was Qwest I s own faultthat they were so inefficient and unresponsive to market forces. Further investigationleads me to believe it is interminable government regulation that creates most of theirproblems. SET THEM FREE!
