Many changes have been good and some notso good. I favor deleregulation of Qwest for many reasons. As a consumer , if Qwest couldcompete wi th other telephone companies , it would be in the consumer I s best interest.Qwest could offer package deals for basis service , calling areas packages including longdistance packages as the cell phone companies offer. I have a young son that lives in anapartment wi th others and they use a cell phone versus a land line due to the expense andvariety of uses wi th a cell phone , however; they have had to compromise the use of a landline for the internet. As an employee , the cell phone industry and independent companiesare "killing " our business because we are not able to compete at their rates and services
and we indeed have the best info-structure to service the public. Qwest has "trimmed the
fat" and reduced work forces in every aspect of the business and still not able
compete , due to regulations.
Please consider most of all , the best product for the consumer and next giving theabili ty for a great company to compete in a very
competi ti ve world.

I believe that deregulation will promotecompeti tion and new technology. I also believe that the market will regulateprices. The reali ty is that wireless telephony is in direct competi tion wi land lines yet has none of the same regulatory restrictions applicable tradi tional telephony. S. Davidson
