I am Oeputy Oirector Ron Vogt with the Southern Idaho Regional Communications Center
Located in Jerome Idaho. We are a 9-1-1 PSAP that services all Public Safety agencies in
the four county region that encludes Twin Falls, Jerome, Gooding and Lincoln County s. I
planned to attend the workshop given for the purpose of discussing Case No. QWE-T-02-
but was called away on busines matters.
I wish at this time however to provide your commission with a few comments which when
added to other information you have obtained may aid in your decision.
1). This Emergency Communications Center has lost about $90,000.00 of projected incoming
fees received from telephone companies under the Emergency Communications Act established
by Idaho Code Title-31, during fiscal year ending September 2002. It is assumed by us that
the prime reason for this loss was residential service shifting from landline telphone
systems to the use of cell phones because of the mobility offered by them and thestabili ty of that service in this area.
The SIRCOMM 9-1-1 center precently receives about 61% of all 9-1 calls are originated
from cell phones.
