Perhaps the large companies would be given lower rates because the forementioned
senior ci tizens etc would , by having their phone rates increased , subsidize decreased
phone rates for businesses and large companies.
The complaint by Qwest that cell phone technology has encroached on its client list
ridiculous. What Qwest I s CEO is saying is that he doesn t want any competi tion and
ul timately he is acknowledging that fiberoptic cables and copper lines will eventually
become obsolete.
Deregulation is nothing more than authorization for Qwest , in the short term before
obsolescence , to increase profi ts at the expense of those who can least afford the
increase in phone rates.
