CASE NO. MCM-T-21-01
ORDER NO. 35221
On August 20, 2021, the Delaware corporation, MCImetro Access Transmission
Services Corp. dba Verizon Access Transmission Services (“Company”) notified the Commission
that it had changed its name to MCImetro Access Transmission Services LLC dba Verizon Access
Transmission Services. Application at 1 and 10. The name change is the result of converting from
a corporation to a limited liability company on July 31, 2021. Id. at 1.
The Company has asked the Commission to update its Certificate of Public
Convenience and Necessity No. 337 (“Certificate No. 337” or “Certificate”) to reflect its new
name. Id. With this Order, we grant the Company’s request.
BACKGROUND
In early 1998, the Commission issued Certificate No. 337 to MCImetro Access
Transmission Services, Inc. in Order No. 27307. The Certificate was amended in 2003, when the
Commission approved a name change to MCImetro Access Transmission Services, LLC. Order
No. 29367. The Certificate was later amended in 2006 to reflect that MCImetro had been purchased
by Verizon and would now be known as MCImetro Access Transmission Services, LLC dba
Verizon Access Transmission Services. Order No. 29972. In 2016, the Certificate was amended to
reflect its status as MCImetro Corp. Order No. 33663.
The Company filed to withdraw its registration to do business in Idaho with the
Secretary of State on August 4, 2021. Application at 13. The Idaho Secretary of State approved its
filing on the same day. Id. at 12. Under its new name, the Company registered to do business in
Idaho on August 9, 2021. Id. at 8-9. The Secretary of State approved its registration on that same
day. Id. at 6-7.
ORDER NO. 35221 2
Under the Certificate, the Company provides local telecommunications services
including basic local exchange services within Idaho. See Order No. 33663 at 1. Converting to a
limited liability company did not result in a change to the rates, terms, and conditions of the
services that the Company offers to customers. Application at 1. Updated tariff title pages changing
the Company’s name were also attached to the Application. Id. at 1-5.
Staff has reviewed this documentation and recommended that the Commission amend
Certificate No. 337 to reflect the Company’s name change.
FINDINGS
Based on our review of the Company’s filing and Staff’s recommendation, the
Commission finds it appropriate to amend Certificate No. 337 to reflect that the Company has
changed its name to MCImetro Access Transmission Services LLC dba Verizon Access
Transmission Services.
O R D E R
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that Certificate No. 337 is amended to reflect that the
Certificate holder’s name is MCImetro Access Transmission Services LLC dba Verizon Access
Transmission Services.
THIS IS A FINAL ORDER. Any person interested in this Order may petition for
reconsideration within twenty-one (21) days of the service date of this Order with regard to any
matter decided in this Order in Case No. MCM-T-21-01. Within seven (7) days after any person
has petitioned for reconsideration, any other person may cross-petition for reconsideration. See
Idaho Code §§ 61-626 and 62-619.
