On July 30, 2004, MCI WorldCom Communications, Inc. filed a letter with the
Commission informing it that the corporate restructuring of MCI WorldCom as part of a
bankruptcy proceeding was complete and requested the Commission to cancel Certificate of
Public Convenience and Necessity No. 347 issued to MCI WorldCom Communications, Inc.
On August 26, 1998, the Commission granted Certificate No. 347 to WorldCom
Technologies, Inc. in Order No. 27685. In March 2000, the Commission granted name change to
MCI WorldCom Communications, Inc. On February 5, 1998, the Commission granted
Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity No. 337 to MCImetro Access Transmission
Services, Inc. in Order No. 27353. As a result of the merger ofMCI and WorldCom, these two
companies shared the same corporate parent. Prior to the bankruptcy, Commission Staff was
informed that the two entities would remain separate and therefore wished to keep both
Certificates. As a result of the bankruptcy and corporate restructuring, the local assets and
customers of MCI WorldCom Communications were merged into MCImetro Access, making
Certificate No. 347 issued to MCI WorldCom Communications no longer necessary.
At the Decision Meeting on August 16, 2004, Staff recommended the Commission
grant MCI WorldCom s request to cancel Certificate No. 347 issued to MCI WorldCom
Communications, Inc.
Certificate.
The Commission approves MCI WorldCom' s request to cancel its
ORDER
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that MCI WorldCom Communications, Inc.s request to
cancel Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity No. 347 is approved.

reconsideration within twenty-one (21) days of the service date of this Order. Within seven (7)
days after any person has petitioned for reconsideration, any other person may cross-petition for
