MOTION TO EXTEND TIME THAT RATES ARE SUSPENDED
COMES NOW Weldon B. Stutzman, Deputy Attorney General, counsel for the Commission Staff, and file this Motion to Extend Time that Rates are Suspended. Inland Telephone Company filed its Application on December 21, 1999, requesting authorization for the Company to increase its local exchange rates and to increase its distribution from the Idaho Universal Service Fund. Inland submitted proposed schedule of rates and charges to be effective February 1, 2000. On January 19, 2000, the Commission issued Order No. 28259 suspending the proposed effective date for a period of thirty (30) days plus five (5) months from February 1, 2000.
Staff has propounded audit requests and discovery requests to Inland Telephone Company, and is in the process of completing an audit. However, the time required to complete the audit, in light of the need to obtain complete information from Inland, will prevent the completion of the audit in time to schedule the filing of testimony and the technical hearing before August 2, 2000, the date that the current rate suspension terminates. Staff therefore files this motion requesting the Commission issue an Order extending the period of suspension from August 2, 2000 to September 13, 2000. Counsel for Inland has represented to Staff’s counsel that Inland agrees to extend the period of suspension for six weeks from August 2, 2000.
Respectfully submitted this ________ day of May 2000.
