APPROVAL OF WIRELESS INTERCONNECTION AGREEMENT BETWEEN GTE AND AT&T WIRELESS SERVICES.
On June 5, 1997, GTE Northwest Incorporated (GTE) and AT&T Wireless Services, Inc. (AT&T) filed a Joint Application for approval of an interconnection agreement arrived at through voluntary negotiations. The agreement is a wireless interconnection agreement submitted for approval pursuant to 47 USC 252 (e) of the Telecommunications Act of 1996. The agreement provides for the parties to interconnect their facilities and for reciprocal compensation, and will enable AT&T to enter the wireless market in GTEs service area.
On June 25, 1997, the Commission issued a Notice of Joint Petition and Notice of Modified Procedure, which established a comment period that terminated on July 16, 1997. The only comments filed were those of the Commission Staff, which recommended approval of the agreement.
The Commission Staff recommends approval of the wireless interconnection agreement between GTE and AT&T Wireless Services.

Should the wireless interconnection agreement between GTE and AT&T Wireless Services be approved?
