RE: CASE NO. GNR-T-99-6; APPLICATION OF DSLNET COMMUNICATIONS, LLC FOR A CERTIFICATE OF PUBLIC CONVENIENCE AND NECESSITY

On April 26, 1999, an Application was filed by DSLnet Communications, LLC for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to provide local exchange services within the state of Idaho. The Application states that DSLnet intends to provide resold and facilities-based, switched and dedicated local exchange telecommunications services within the state. DSLnet is a limited liability company organized on August 12, 1998, under the laws of the state of Delaware. DSLnet’s sole member and managing entity is DSL.Net, Inc., a Delaware corporation. The Application states that DSLnet intends to begin providing service in Idaho during the fourth quarter of 1999 and that initially it will provide service through a combination of purchased and leased assets. DSLnet intends initially to provide data transmission services only but requests authority to provide the full range of local exchange and inter-exchange services.
Staff recommends that the Application of DSLnet Communications, LLC for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity be processed by Modified Procedure.
