GNR-T-99-1; APPLICATION OF NEXTLINK IDAHO, INC. FOR A CERTIFICATE OF PUBLIC CONVENIENCE AND NECESSITY On January 14, 1999, an Application was filed by NextLink Idaho, Inc. for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to provide local exchange, interexchange and intrastate switched and dedicated access services within the state. NextLink, a Washington corporation, states that it initially plans to offer local exchange services to businesses and residential customers in the Boise, Idaho Falls, and Couer d’Alene areas. On July 20, 1999, the Commission issued a Notice of Application and Notice of Modified Procedure to process NextLink’s Application. During the comment period written comments were filed only by the Commission Staff. Staff noted that NextLink seeks authorization to provide services only within the U S WEST and GTE services areas, and that NextLink has provided the necessary information as required by the Commission’s Rules and the requirements of Commission Procedural Order No. 26665. Staff recommends that the Application of NextLink Idaho, Inc. for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to provide local exchange service within the areas of the state served by U S WEST and GTE be approved.
