GNR- T -03- VERIZON NORTHWEST INC.S MOTION FOR EXTENSION OF TIME IN WHICH TO INTERVENE Pursuant to the Idaho Public Utilities Commission s ("Commission ) Rules of Procedure 72 and 73 and the Commission s June 17, 2003 Notice of State Proceeding and Notice of Right to Intervene Notice ), Verizon Northwest Inc. ("Verizon ) hereby files this Motion for Extension of Time in which to Intervene Motion and in support of its Motion states as follows: V erizon is a telecommunications carrier authorized to provide various telecommunications services in Idaho. The Commission has opened this proceeding "to review within 90 days whether the FCC determination that access to switching for high capacity loops such as DS-, if not available as a UNE from an ILEC, would impair the ability of other carriers to provide services.Notice at 2. As an ILEC in the state, Verizon has a direct and substantial interest in the Commission s consideration of "the FCC's presumptive finding that a competing Verizon s Petition to Intervene carrier s ability to provide services is not impaired without access to switching on high capacity loops.Notice at 2. There is little (if any) dispute regarding the lack of impairment without access to switching on high capacity loops, and for this reason Verizon believes that the Commission s 90 day proceeding may be unnecessary. However, the FCC has not yet released its Triennial Review Order, and it may be that interested parties wish to see the FCC's Order before deciding whether they wish to participate in any 90 day proceeding. For this reason, Verizon respectfully requests that the due date for petitions to intervene in this proceeding be extended until ten (10) days after the FCC has released its Order. WHEREFORE, Verizon respectfully requests that its Motion for extension of time be granted.
