RE:CASE NO. GNR-T-98-16; APPLICATION OF ONE EIGHTY COMMUNICATIONS, INC. FOR A CERTIFICATE OF PUBLIC CONVENIENCE AND NECESSITY
On October 15, 1998, an Application was filed One Eighty Communications, Inc. for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity. By its Application, One Eighty requests authorization to provide local exchange service pursuant to Title 61, as well as telecommunications services pursuant to Title 62, Idaho Code, to businesses within the U S WEST service areas in Idaho. On October 21, 1998, the Commission issued a Notice of Application and Notice of Modified Procedure. During the comment period, written comments were filed only by the Commission Staff.
Staff reviewed the Application submitted by One Eighty and determined that One Eighty has complied with the Commission’s rules and procedural requirements for issuance of a Certificate. Staff noted that One Eighty is a newly formed corporation with financial backing in the form of a line of credit at a local bank. Staff asked for a $100,000 performance bond by One Eighty, and One Eighty has obtained and provided evidence of receipt of a $100,000 bond.
Staff recommends that the Application of One Eighty Communications, Inc. for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity be approved.
Commission Decision
Should the Application of One Eighty Communications, Inc. for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to provide local telecommunication service within the area of Idaho served by U S WEST be approved?
