SUBJECT: ADMINISTRATOR TO CONTRACT WITH TRS PROVIDER,
CASE NO. GNR.T.16.O6
Staff initiated this case in June 2016, to advise the Commission about the response to
the Telecommunications Relay Service (TRS) Administrator's request for proposal (RFP) for a
TRS service provider contract. After the Commission approved the RFP, a TRS Advisory
Committee was formed to assist the Administrator in assessing responses. The sole response
was from Hamilton Relay, Inc. (fka Hamilton Telephone Company), which had held the previous
contract.
The TRS Administrator, Bob Dunbar, evaluated Hamilton's response and presented
his evaluation to the Committee. The Administrator and Committee members unanimously
agreed that Hamilton should be awarded the contract. Staff recommended that the Commission
approve the proposal to award the TRS service provider contract to Hamilton, and to direct the
Administrator to negotiate the terms of the contract with Hamilton with an effective date of
December 1,2016 - when the existing contract expired. The Commission agreed with Stafls
recorrmendation by consent on June 20,2016. This matter can now be administratively closed.
