Comment:The area codes in Idaho needs to be split by regions.Imagine wanting to call
someone in your own town and not knowing what area code to use! It’s a crap shoot. This
will be so frustrating, especially if you don’t have a smart phone. At least by region
(north/south Idaho)you can make the logical assumption that your neighbor has the same area
code. Also,if you split by region, you won’t have to dial 10 numbers on EVERY SINGLE Idaho
call. This will drive me nuts!I don’t think you should make everyone dial 10 numbers if it
is not necessary.I would rather get a new number and be more logical.
Thanks!

Comment:I am commenting on the new area code. Please do it by region, not just the new
numbers.Dialing 10 numbers everytime I wanted to call my neighbor would be a pain.Think of
the jobs created in redoing signs, business cards etc.I really don’t care if I hve to “give
up”the 208.ZI can adjust better to that than dialing all the numbers.

Comment:In regards to choosing an option for a second area code in Idaho, the most efficient
and fair way is the geographical split. The area in the split with the greatest population
base should retain the 20$area code and the area with the lessor population should get the
new area code.

Comment:Regarding the Area Code change--It only makes sense to change the Pacific Time Zone
areas of Idaho to a new Area Code. This will distinguish who lives in the Pacific Time Zone
and who lives in the Mountain Time Zone.Anything else is just politics.

Comment:My comments are on the new Idaho area code that is proposed.Telecommunications
providers would like to implement a “geographic overlay”rather than a “geographic split.”A
geographic split makes more sense to me even if some of us have to change our phone numbers
since this would just be a one time occurrence.
My comments are on the new Idaho area code that is proposed.Telecommunications providers
would like to implement a “geographic overlay”rather than a ‘geographic split”when Idaho is
projected to need more than one area code in the next few years.A “geographic split”makes
more sense to me even if some of us have to change our phone numbers.Changing our phone
numbers would be a onetime occurrence to accommodate multiple area codes for Idaho.
I rarely make phone calls outside of Eastern Idaho. As friends, family, and businesses change
their phone numbers in our local area,a “geographic overlay”would require consumers to
remember 10 digit numbers instead of 7 for any local calls. Why should we now have to
remember 10 digit numbers instead of 7 for every dialed phone number in our local area? This
doesn’t make any sense. The “geographic overlay”is more of a cost savings for the
telecommunications providers and does not represent the best interest of the consumer. Please
adopt a “geographic split”when more than one area code is needed in the future for Idaho.

Comment:Regarding the need for a new area code in the state of Idaho,I believe we should
split the state into 2 -3 sections.Boise can keep 208 and give the rest of the state a new
code.

Comment:Re:change of 208 phone code.I urge you to use the “overlay”system allowing the
208 code to remain for those who have it and issue the new area code to newcomers.Thank you.

Comment:When a second area code needs to be added,a logical split of the state would be
Mountain Time and Pacific Time.Mixing the new area code with the existing 208 would be
confusing and impractical for making “local”calls.
