GNR- T -08-04 INVESTIGATION INTO POSSIBLE LOCAL TELEPHONE SERVICE IN PEARL, IDAHO On December 12, 2008, the Commission on its own initiated this docket to examine whether it is feasible to extend facilties into the Pearl, Idaho area in order to provide local telephone exchange service. The Commission directed Qwest Corporation and Albion Telephone to file reports regarding the configuration of facilities and the need for telecommunications services in the area, including any line extension or feasibilty cost studies to extend or improve service to the Pearl area. After receiving several reports from Qwest and Albion, and meeting with residents in the Pearl area, it was evident there is no economically feasible way for local service facilities to be extended into the Pearl area.
