Dear Ms. Jewell:
This letter is to serve as notice that the Petitioners in the above-referenced case desire to withdraw their
Petition and have the Commission close the case. I contacted each of the original Petitioners (Potlatch
felephone, Idaho Telephone Association (lTA), CenturyTel of Idaho, and CenturyTel of the Gem
State (predecessors of CenturyLink), and they all consented to withdrawing and closing this case. At
the time, their Petition sought a Commission Order that would prohibit "virtual NXX calling" in Idaho.
As the Commission explained in its Order, "virtual NXX calling converts what would otherwise be a
long-distance . . . call to a toll-free local call by the assignment of a telephone prefix (NXX- ) that
makes it appear that the call is a local call" for billing purposes. Order No. 29125.
Consistent with Procedural Rule 68, I am serving a copy of this Notice to Withdraw the Petition on all
parties to the case. Rule 68 states: "Unless otherwise ordered by the Commission, the notice is
effective fourteen (14) days after filing." IDAPA 31.01.01.068. In addition to the Petitioners, Staff
has no objection to this case being closed.
