BEFORE THE IDAHO PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION
IN THE MATTER OF THE APPLICATIONOF THE LOCAL CONNECTION
TELEPHONE COMPANY FOR A
CERTIFICATE OF PUBLIC CONVENIENCE
AND NECESSITY TO PROVIDE LOCAL
EXCHANGE TELECOMMUNICATIONS SERVICES.

ORDER NO. 29213
On June 7, 2002, an application for a Certificate of Public Convenience and
Necessity to provide basic local exchange service within the service areas of Qwest, Citizens
Communications and Verizon was filed by The Local Connection Telephone Company. The
Local Connections s Application states that it plans to provide services that include three-way
calling, speed dialing and Caller ID. The Company intends to provide services in southwestern
Idaho, southern Idaho, eastern Idaho and northeastern Idaho. On June 18, 2002, the Commission
issued a Notice of Application and Notice of Modified Procedure to process The Local
Connections s Application.
Staff reviewed The Local Connection s Application and supporting documentation
and filed written comments recommending approval of its Application. The Company has
satisfied the Commission s application requirements and also avers that it will comply with all
relevant Commission rules. The Commission finds that The Local Connection has satisfied all
the requirements of the Commission s Rules and Procedural Order No. 26665 setting forth the
requirements for an application for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity. It is
therefore appropriate for the Commission to approve the Application of The Local Connection.
ORDER
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that the Application of The Local Connection Telephone
Company for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity is granted to enable the
Company to provide basic local exchange service in the areas served by Qwest, Citizens
Communications and Verizon.
THIS IS A FINAL ORDER. Any person interested in this Order (or in issues finally
decided by this Order) or in interlocutory Orders previously issued in this Case No. GNR-02-
may petition for reconsideration within twenty-one (21) days of the service date of this order
ORDER NO. 29213
with regard to any matter decided in this Order or in interlocutory Orders previously issued in
this Case No. GNR-02-Within seven (7) days after any person has petitioned for
reconsideration, any other person may cross-petition for reconsideration. See Idaho Code ~ 61-
626.
