RE:CHANGE OF NAME ON CERTIFICATE FROM Z-TEL TO TRINSIC;
CASE NO. GNR- T -00-39.
On December 20, 2004, the Commission received a notice from a representative of Z- Tel
Communications, Inc. that the Company would be changing its name, effective January 1 2005
to Trinsic Communications, Inc. The notice included documentation of the name change with
the Idaho Secretary of State. The notice clarifies that "This is only a name change and is not a
result of merger/acquisition activity or a change in controL"
Also attached to the notice were two price lists or tariffs, which were to replace the two
price lists currently on file under the name of Z- Tel Communications, Inc. (One price list is for
local exchange service, and the other is for access services.) Staff has .accepted both price lists
for filing.
Upon further communication with the Company s representative, Staff clarified that the
Company also desired to change the name on its Certificate. Z-Tel Communications, Inc
. currently holds a Certificate of Convenience and Necessity to provide competitive local
exchange service, provided by the Commission in Case No. GNR-00-39. (Certificate No.
389.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the Commission approve the Company s request to change the name
on the certificate from Z- Tel Communications, Inc. to Trinsic Communications, Inc.
